What is a candlestick, really?
Body, wicks, open, close — the four numbers behind every candle and what they tell you.
Every candlestick packs four numbers into one shape: open, high, low, close. The body is the range between open and close — filled/red when close is below open, hollow/green when it closes higher. The wicks (or shadows) are the high and low reached during the period, even if price didn't close there.
A long body means one side was in control the whole period. A long wick with a small body means a fight happened — price pushed hard one way and got rejected back. Reading candles is reading who won a very short, very specific battle.
On its own a single candle tells you little. Read them in twos and threes against the trend, and you start to see where momentum is genuinely shifting versus just breathing.
